Our Story
NABEMSPA is driven by a passion for empowering Black EMS professionals because we are all Champions of diversity, equity, and inclusion across EMS agencies. We push for fair hiring practices, leadership access, and responsive services tailored to Black communities, partnering with other EMS and healthcare organizations to amplify these efforts .
We are dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the EMS field. NBEMSPA is a nonprofit, professional organization established to support and advocate for Black emergency medical services (EMS) professionals through education, leadership development, mentorship, community outreach, and national representation in the EMS field.

Our Commitment
Advocacy Focus
Advocating for equality, representation, and advancement within the EMS industry by actively addressing systemic disparities, promoting inclusive leadership opportunities, and ensuring that Black EMS professionals have a voice at every level—from field operations to executive decision-making. We work to dismantle barriers to entry and promotion, push for equitable policies and practices, and create pathways for professional growth through education, mentorship, and community engagement. Our commitment extends beyond representation—it’s about empowering Black EMS providers to lead, influence, and shape the future of emergency medical services.
Professional Development
Providing resources and opportunities for Black EMS professionals to grow and excel through access to continuing education, certification support, leadership training, and professional development programs. We foster career advancement by connecting members to scholarships, mentorship networks, speaking engagements, and job placement services. Our goal is to equip Black EMS providers with the tools, knowledge, and connections needed to thrive in every area of emergency medical care — from the ambulance to administrative leadership and policy advocacy. By investing in the growth of our members, we elevate the standard of care in our communities and strengthen the EMS profession as a whole.
Community Engagement
Engaging with communities to enhance EMS services and build strong relationships by fostering trust, improving health literacy, and promoting culturally responsive care. We organize outreach events, health education initiatives, CPR and first aid training, and public safety workshops in underserved and historically marginalized neighborhoods. Our approach centers on listening to community needs, amplifying local voices, and collaborating with grassroots organizations to ensure that EMS care is not only accessible but also equitable and respectful. Through visibility, service, and connection, we bridge gaps between EMS professionals and the communities they serve, creating a foundation of trust and mutual respect

At the National Black EMS Providers Association, our team is made up of dedicated EMS professionals, healthcare advocates, educators, and community leaders who are united by a shared commitment to representation, excellence, and equity in emergency medical services. we bring together decades of frontline experience across diverse EMS roles- from EMTs, Paramedics, instructors and administrators- working collaboratively to empower Black providers through mentorship, education, advocacy & networking. Our leadership is driven by passion, purpose, and the belief that when Black EMS professionals are unified, skilled, and seen, entire communities thrive
